Light Brite Love & Kayla loses yet another tooth...

That first photo says pretty much everything Kayla thinks/feels about me having this new camera.

As does the one midway down the page, where she's looking at me like, "You can't seriously still be taking pictures of me, right....?"

I told my friend Ryan about this, and he laughed and said it sounds like I need more subjects. I have to agree, although finding the time to get to new and different live subjects might be a little problem at this moment.

Allen and Kayla and I had kind of a busy and awkward weekend. Allen had a horrible week with his work last week - probably the worst I've ever seen him go through. Unfortunately, that meant he had to work all day Saturday, and Kayla and I were left to our own devices.

We decided to go to Grandma's (Allen's Mom's house), and we had a really nice time once everyone shook out their crankiness...she and I had kind of a rough morning...(more on that tomorrow when I post up all those photos - there are LOTS!)

I think Allen's sister Angela was channeling Kayla's brainwaves by the end of the day, and totally ready for me to take my camera FAR FAR AWAY, lol...

I've taken about 1000 photos so far this month, which kind of blows my mind. I keep going through the folder and deleting, but the pile doesn't seem to be shrinking!

More to come...:)

I'd like to have this attached to my face please, thank you!

I got my camera last Monday night.

Picture me trying to restrain myself from actually jumping up and down and squealing like a five year old girl who got a REAL LIVE PONY FOR CHRISTMAS. Yes, I'm that kind of crazy person.

Now that I've owned it a week and a half, I'd like to have it permanently affixed to my face/eyeballs so that I can take a photo of every single mundane little thing I see from now-until-forever-and-ever-infinity-times-a-gazillion...*blissful sigh*

After unloading the memory card a few times, I realized that my computer's hard drive is probably not going to be able to handle ALL of the photos and videos coming through that camera cable - its about 3 years old, and the hard drive is filling quickly. (A problem that is simmering in the back of my mind at the moment, but I think I probably have another month or two before I really need to worry about it...)

Funny thing: I haven't even gone through and really looked at all those photos! I just keep snapping away, trying to figure out how the camera works, how to get it to do what I want consistently. I'm especially having a hard time with movement - the animals have given me lots of practice since they're the only other living/mobile things around here to shoot most of the time.

Allen has been a good sport, although I think his patience may run out at some point in the near future - not that I blame him at all. (Having a camera stuck in his face after he's worked from 7am to 6pm is probably not the peace and relaxation he's looking for, so I'm trying to control my o/c tendencies and not follow him around like his own personal paparazzi as soon as he gets home each day...)

I think it freaks Kayla out, unfortunately. I took it with me to her gymnastics class, which was fun, and she seemed fine with it there. I think its not a big deal to her when I'm sitting 20+ feet away, and she's totally focused on bouncing around like a 6 year old kangaroo. When we're at home though, she runs and hides if I get it out and point it in her direction for more than 30 seconds. I asked if she would do a fashion show with me so I can practice (we have literally BOXES of girly dress up craziness,) but she declined. Boo! Ah well, maybe she'll come around...

So far I've taken photos at two of Allen's client homes to add up on his website, and I'm so thrilled to finally have some photos of POST installation quality. Meaning there are no extension cords or caulking guns laying around in the photo for me to try (and fail!) to edit out...

This client wanted an organic and earthy look for the tile on one bedroom wall, and it turned out stunning. I've not seen this tile used in this way before, and was so impressed with the results...

Alright I have to get a sleepy little one up, showered, fed, dressed, teeth brushed, snacks packed and off to school...:)

I can't contain this! I have to tell someone!

Holy cow, my face is still soaked from laughing until I was crying so much I couldn't read the screen!

You. Must. See. This.

I just couldn't sleep yet - my body is tired, but my brain wouldn't shut up already.

Maybe I can go lay down and think happy thoughts until I fall asleep now...but I can't wait to show Allen this site in the morning.

Thank you to Tara Whitney, whose blog I've been lurking on for the last 3 months, reading from start to finish because I LOVE IT! She posted the site as one of her favorites, and now its one of mine too. :)

Pink Dog Water

Ummm....yeah. Still sick. Still cranky. Poor Allen...

So I finally went to the doctor yesterday. Verdict: possibly Strep Throat. Not a huge surprise to me, since I had to have my tonsils removed at 21 after I'd had Strep every month for a year.

Damn diseased little monsters!

Somehow, despite their extraction, I still get it. Well we think anyway - no insurance means that the kindly doctor at urgent care says we'll skip the labs and here's your antibiotic prescription since you've suffered through three weeks of this nonsense already - thanks doc!

Get home late last night after open gym for Kayla, an oil change, and prescriptions filled for me.

Heard from Kayla standing over doggie water bowl:

"Why is the dog water PINK?"

Oh yeah, about that...they make these really nifty little packets of flavored fiber yumminess, which I've been sucking down via a particular water bottle I can't take the top off of, otherwise I end up wearing the stuff. It turns pink when mixed up - not sure why? Maybe so you know its not plain water?? Whatev - it tastes good, and I have learned how not to wear it, so the color doesn't really matter to me...

Now, picture the doggie pointedly licking his empty water bowl every so often over the last week or two (generally in the evening), and me wallowing in sickly self-pity on the couch.
  • Walk to sink with almost-empty water bottle for self.
  • Resist dumping out what's left of my pink flavored water because I don't want to waste it. (Yes, ridiculous. I know.)
  • Fill to brim with regular water.
  • Walk over to doggie bowl.
  • Dump pink-and-slightly-flavored water in doggie bowl.
  • Wonder if doggie will even notice the difference...?

He seems fine with it...:)
